Woman Killed, Boy Hurt In Shooting At Inglewood Park

INGLEWOOD (CBS) — A 61-year-old woman was killed and a 15-year-old boy was injured in a shooting at a park in Inglewood, police said.

The shooting occurred around 4:45 p.m. Saturday at Roger's Park, 400 W. Beach Avenue, according to Lt. Steve Overly of the Inglewood Police Department.

Both were take to hospitals, but the woman, who was shot in her left side, died after surgery, he said.

Witnesses told police a man was walking through a parking lot at the park when he began shooting at a 16-year-old boy, who ducked behind a parked vehicle, Overly said.

The 15-year-old boy had been standing nearby and was hit by a stray bullet. The woman was shot as she came out of a building in the park.

Overly said the suspect was last seen running west on Beach Avenue.
