Bruins Snap 4-Game Skid, Beat Cal Poly

WESTWOOD (AP)—Joshua Smith scored a career-high 19 points and UCLA pulled away in the second half to beat Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 72-61 on Saturday night, snapping a four-game skid.

Smith had 12 rebounds and Reeves Nelson added 13 points for the Bruins (4-4), who lost by one point to No. 4 Kansas before falling to Montana at home last week.

David Hanson scored 18 points and Shawn Lewis added 13 for the Mustangs (3-5) in the teams' first meeting since 1955. They've lost two in a row overall and four straight on the road heading into Monday night's game at No. 14 San Diego State.

Cal Poly trailed by five early in the second half before the Bruins found their offense while playing more aggressively on defense.
