Elementary School Teacher Accused Of Possessing Child Porn
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Officials filed criminal charges Tuesday against an elementary school teacher they accuse of posting child pornography on a social networking site.
Silvestre Layug Ela, 53, a teacher with the LAUSD, is charged with one count each of possession of child pornography and distribution of child porn, according to Deputy District Attorney Marc Beaart.
Ela is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The Carson resident has reportedly worked as an elementary school teacher for 15 years, and is currently assigned to teach fifth grade at Dominguez Elementary School.
If convicted of all charges, he could face up to three years and eight months in state prison.
