LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An 81-year-old woman was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing a street in Koreatown, a police spokesperson said.
Gae Sum Park was struck around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at Olympic and Harvard boulevards, Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Park was walking outside a marked crosswalk when she was struck, possibly by a light-colored Toyota 4-Runner, Eisenman said.
After the crash, the driver made a U-turn mid-block on Olympic and then turned left onto Harvard, Eisenman said.
Park, who had major head and body trauma, died at the scene, Eisenman said.
Anyone with information was asked to call LAPD West Traffic Division detectives at (213) 473-0234 or (877) LAPD-24-7.
