Hundreds Of Low-Income Families Need Your Turkey Donations

MONROVIA (CBS) — While Southland residents are gearing up for Thanksgiving there are hundreds of families in need who won't be able to afford a turkey this year.

While out shopping for your holiday items why not grab a frozen turkey and donate it to the Foothill Unity Center. They serve thousands of low-income families in The Southland. But with donations down and demand at an all-time high, organizers say they don't have enough turkeys for 1,500 of the families they assist.

The Center would greatly appreciate donations of frozen turkeys, a supermarket gift certificate to cover the purchase of a turkey, and, of course, any canned goods you want to throw in.

You can drop off your donation at:

Weekdays: Between 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. at either 191 N. Oak Ave., Pasadena, or 415 W. Chestnut Ave., Monrovia.

Weekend: Saturday, Nov. 20, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the L.A.

For more information visit the Foothill Unity Center Web site.
