Cracked Window Forces OC Flight To Land

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A flight from Atlanta to Santa Ana made an emergency landing in Dallas Thursday after the plane’s cockpit window cracked mid-flight.

Delta Flight 1795 landed safely in Dallas where the plane was inspected and taken to the gate. The flight’s 145 passengers boarded a different delta flight to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana.

A photo submitted to cbsla.com by Mike Fleming, showed the Boeing 737’s cockpit window severely cracked, but the glass remained intact.

Impact with a large bird like a goose might do it.

  5. John says:

Flying antique airplanes until they literally fall apart and cutting corners on maintenance will do it.

  6. Matt says:

Maybe strain from repeated pressurization? There was a 737 that had the top half rip off a while back because of metal fatigue…

lol @ the first and second comment

  8. itsfm says:

that was obviously caused by a piece falling off of an even older U2 spy plane flying high above the 737 that happened to hit the glass.
