Teacher, 50, Pleads Guilty To Trying To Entice Girl, 8, Into Sexual Activity

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A 50-year-old California teacher has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to a federal charge of attempting to entice an 8-year-old girl into sexual activity.

U.S. Attorney Sanford Coats said Eric Joseph Schwartz of North Hollywood, Calif., was sentenced Monday.

Prosecutors say that Schwartz, a high school English teacher in Sherman Oaks, Calif., met an Oklahoma City-area woman in February through a social networking website for people interested in unusual sexual experiences.

The woman said she had an 8-year-old daughter. Coats says the woman was cooperating with the FBI and the girl did not exist.

Schwartz was arrested when he flew to Oklahoma City on March 29, allegedly to engage in sexual activity with the girl. He entered a guilty plea in May.
