Hit-And-Run Suspect Surrenders After Crashing Car Into South LA Home

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A hit-and-run driver who allegedly plowed his car into a vacant home in South Los Angeles has turned himself into authorities, a California Highway Patrol officer said Monday.

Possible criminal charges are pending against the suspect, whose name was not released, while the crash investigation continues, according to CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

The man's Ford Crown Victoria crashed into a bank-owned home in the 7500 block of South Central Ave. at about 8:24 p.m., according to Kimball.

It took two tow trucks and 50-foot cables to pull the car out of the empty home.

No damage estimate was immediately available.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
