DUI Suspect Accused Of Crashing Into Patrol Car

LAGUNA BEACH (CBS)  — Authorities arrested a 42-year-old Huntington Beach man who crashed his car twice during a traffic stop this weekend in Laguna Beach.

Christian Aparicio was pulled over for a suspected traffic violation. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Aparicio was stopped near Broadway and South Coast Highway about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Louise Callus said.

The officer's dashboard camera caught Aparicio's car backing up into the patrol car. Moments later, video showed the car crashing into a water and air dispenser, causing a water line to rupture, Callus said.

Water Department workers had to rush to shut off the water, she added.

Meanwhile, in South Los Angeles Monday night, a female motorist who was suspected of drunken driving, crashed her car after a chase.

Officials said the chase started around 9 p.m. and the woman crashed, into a telephone pole, about ten minutes later near Gage Avenue on Western, according to police.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the woman from the tangled wreckage, according to Sgt. Jeff Vach of the Los Angeles Police Department's Newton Station.

The unidentified woman was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
