Customers Irked Over Latest DMV Computer Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Less than one week after a minor outage in the DMV computer system, drivers around Southern California reported another crash on Monday, with representatives unable to help people across the state.

A representative from the Department of Motor Vehicles says the computer problem is widespread, affecting about 168 field offices.

Officials are asking people to avoid going to DMV offices, and instead make an appointment for another day. They also remind customers that many services are available online; including address changes and other administrative tasks.

A sign posted at locations just tell customers computers are down and they do not known when they will be back up and working again.

The DMV has come under fire for their wait time recently, especially since state furloughs closed offices 3 Fridays a month.
