Man Arrested In Connection With Long Beach Explosion
LONG BEACH (CBS) — A 32-year-old man was behind bars Sunday after allegedly being caught on tape setting off explosives in a Long Beach neighborhood, a city fire official said.
Garret Lengyel was arrested Thursday in connection with at least one explosion that occurred near 430 Daisy Avenue, Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fire Department said.
The Nov. 5 explosion was caught on the building’s surveillance cameras, Yamamoto said.
“Lengyel was captured on… video detonating an incendiary device in the alley,” Yamamoto said. “The explosion… rocked the neighborhood of sleeping residents who told investigators these types of explosions were becoming more and more frequent.”
Lengyel was booked for the use of an incendiary or destructive device. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
