Riverside Police Announce Arrest Of Cop Killer Suspect

RIVERSIDE (AP) —  Riverside police say they have arrested a man in connection with the fatal shooting of an officer.

Chief Sergio Diaz tells the Riverside Press-Enterprise the man was arrested Tuesday night at a Target store in Riverside.

Diaz tells the newspaper that investigators "like this guy" as a likely suspect, "but there's still a lot of work to do."

Officer Ryan Bonaminio was shot and killed late Sunday night after chasing a suspect on foot into a park. Bonaminio had pulled the man over in a big-rig that had been reported stolen.

A call to the police department was not immediately returned.

Police sources told KCAL 9's Melissa McCarty that a woman was also detained along with the male suspect.

The suspect's car was alleged to have broken down outside a Riverside shopping center.
