LOS ANGELES (AP) — Investigators say an East Los Angeles resident pulling into his driveway ran over a masked man pointing a shotgun at him, pinning the armed man under his sport utility vehicle until deputies arrived.

Sheriff’s Lt. Jim Carr says 25-year-old Jason Perez was waiting when the homeowner returned home Wednesay night and he pointed the shotgun at the motorist.

Fearing for his safety, the lieutenant says the SUV driver accelerated and struck Perez.

Los Angeles County firefighters were called in to free Perez, who is hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Carr says he will be booked for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon.

This is a perfect example of how to save your own life. Good for the homeowner. If he had hesitated or gotten out of his car he probobly would have been killed.
