Fire Tears Through Commercial Building In Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH (CBS) — Firefighters Wednesday evening battled a fire that tore through a single-story commercial building in Chatsworth.

The fire at at 9256 Owensmouth Avenue had completely engulfed the structure as of 6:40 p.m.

Los Angeles fire spokesman Brian Humphrey said in an e-mail statement that the fire was reported shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire burned the headquarters of Coronet Printing, a company established in 1946.

One of the firm's officials, Lenny Slatko, told CBS 2 that he believed all employees were accounted for.  Slatko also reported that "everything" was destroyed.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Owensmouth Avenue was closed in the area of the fire.

Firefighters tried to save the structure but the decision was finally reached to keep the fire from spreading and to withdraw.
