USC Student Critical After 6-Story Fall From Dorm Room
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say a USC student is hospitalized in critical condition after falling six stories from his campus dorm room.
Deputy Chief Pat Gannon tells the Los Angeles Times Tuesday that the incident involving the 18-year-old student was reported Monday at 6 a.m.
The male student, who was not identified, suffered multiple broken bones and internal injuries.
Based on the police investigation, Gannon says it appears the student had consumed alcohol, marijuana and the psychotropic drug Ecstasy during two nights of partying at an electronic music festival at Shrine Auditorium Saturday and Sunday.
Authorities say they have not determined a connection between the event and the student's fall.
Investigators say it appears the fall was due to an accident or related to an altered state of consciousness.
