Drug Counts Added In OC Deputy's DUI Case

SANTA ANA (AP) — Prosecutors have added doctor-shopping drug counts to the prescription drug DUI case against a now-former Orange County sheriff's deputy.

Ex-Deputy Allan James Waters was arrested in March for two off-duty DUI crashes in just 33 minutes, one of them injuring a 78-year-old woman whose car slammed into a tree.

After an investigation, he was charged with driving under the influence causing bodily injury, selling a controlled substance and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. Prosecutors say Waters is a drug dealer who traded fake cocaine and cash in exchange for prescription drugs, including Oxycodone.

On Friday, prosecutors filed nine additional felony charges against Waters alleging he illegally obtained prescription pills by providing false information and repeatedly changing doctors.
