USC Refutes Bedbug Infestation Report

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The University of Southern California says it doesn't have a bedbug problem.

University spokesman James Grant on Friday responded to a television news report showing students complaining about bloodsucking bedbugs in campus housing.

The bloodsucking creatures have been reported by students living in campus housing. Not so, Grant's university news release says.

The housing complex mentioned in the report isn't owned and isn't operated by USC and the three people complaining in the TV report do not live in USC housing. Furthermore, Grant says only two of the three previously lived in university housing and there are no records of complaints from them.

The university says it aggressively responds to bedbug reports. USC Housing responded to two cases of suspected bed bugs in campus housing and three cases in off-campus housing managed by USC.
