Noose Hung On Door Of OC Pro-Gay Rights Office

SANTA ANA (AP) — A gay rights group has found a black noose hanging on the door of one of its Southern California offices.

Equality California phone bank trainer Mel Distel told the Orange County Register she found the noose late Thursday when she opened up the Santa Ana office for campaign volunteers.

Distel says she called the police and an officer told her sometimes you have to live with being a victim. She says she will file a formal complaint about the officer’s response.

Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna declined comment on Distel’s account. He says police are investigating.

The Anti-Defamation League has condemned the noose and urged police to treat the incident seriously.

It is a terrorist threat. How is it NOT news?

could just be kids for a Halloween prank…….people get so wigged out about……I think the LAPD has bigger and more threatening things to deal with……..

  • Chris

It’s news because an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

I gladly see the moderators are removing the hate spewed rants which are just as terrorist as
    Thank you

The Officer told her that cause there is not much they can do about it. Someone hung a noose on the door, so where do they go from there? They maybe can track it but with all the other hate crimes out there I don’t doubt the officers response. Then they want the police to take this seriously. There is only so much they can do.

From some of the comments on here, I can see hate is still alive and well. I’m sure these id_iots wouldn’t be laughing if that same noose were hung on their door!

unless there is video footage of someone putting it there a note attached to it makeing some claim of hate then there is ABSOLUTELY no action the police can take because put simple YOU CAN NOT FINGER PRINT A ROPE and being halloween even if they caught someone for putting it there i do not want to be the DA who would have to prove it was anything other then a halloween prank
