Man Arrested For Allegedly Fondling Girl On Bus

COSTA MESA (AP) — Investigators say a man arrested for trying to unzip a girl’s pants on a Southern California bus had been boarding commuter buses much of the day in an apparent hunt for passengers to molest.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested 55-year-old Herath Premaratnea for investigation of sexual battery on Thursday evening as he exited an Orange County Transportation Authority bus in Costa Mesa.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino says the Los Angeles man and a companion are believed to have boarded buses as many as 10 times on Monday with the sole purpose of fondling girls. Security video shows them touching at least two girls.

The second man hasn’t been identified.

The Orange County Register says a 16-year-old girl told deputies she was riding the when a man began to unzip her pants.

    Ok — I want to know how this guy was able to reach over this girl and start to unzip? Once this guy even reached over me I would have SCREAMED my Lungs off.

    It’s too easy for perverts on busses! They jam you in like cattle-you’re standing up and trying to hang on and pretty much at a perverts’ mercy. And of course the drivers pay no attention to what is going on. OCTA SUCKS. This is not the first time this has happened and bus riders need to call and complain. 714-636-RIDE
