Firefighters Battle 10-Acre Brush Fire In Castaic

CASTAIC (CBS) — A fire scorched about 10-acres of brush Tuesday near the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in the Castaic area, prompting officials to close all southbound freeway lanes as fire crews worked to douse the flames.

Firefighters were sent to the area of Lake Hughes Road about 12:35 p.m, according to the county fire department.

The southbound freeway lanes were closed at Templin Highway around 1 p.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
