Cyclist, Pedestrian Killed In Separate Car Accidents

INGLEWOOD (CBS) — Officials said a 37-year-old woman was killed in Inglewood Tuesday after she darted in front of a car.

The dead woman was identified as Edith Maximo-Medina of Inglewood. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision occured just before 7 a.m., according to authorities.

The accident happened in the 800 block of East Manchester Boulevard. The driver was cooperative with authorities and, at this writing, not charged.

Anyone with information was asked to call Inglewood traffic investigator Jeff LaGreek at (310) 412-5134.

Meanwhile, a cyclist was killed in Gardena after he was hit by a car.

The cyclist, Herbert Hernan Rivas, 43, collided with a van about 3 p.m. at Budlong Avenue and Redondo Beach Boulevard.

Anyone who witnessed the fatal collision was asked to call Gardena Police Department traffic investigator Sergio Borbon at (313) 217-6135.
