Officials ID 2 Men Killed In Lake Matthews Plane Crash
LAKE MATTHEWS (CBS) — Two men who died in a plane crash near Lake Matthews were identified Monday.
Timothy Richard Larson, 41, of Moreno Valley, and his 50-year-old passenger, whose name was withheld, were pronounced dead at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office.
Larson, the plane's owner, was piloting a single-engine Glasair that left the Corona Municipal Airport about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said.
When the plane failed to return Saturday night, a friend of the pilot reported it missing, Gregor said.
A sheriff's helicopter crew spotted the wreckage around 10 a.m. Sunday, he said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
