San Bernardino Supervisor Admits DUI, Gives Up County SUV
SAN BERNARDINO (AP) — A Southern California supervisor is turning in his county-provided sport utility vehicle after disclosure of a drunken-driving arrest five years in Illinois.
San Bernardino County Supervisor Paul Biane released a statement this week calling the 2005 incident a mistake and says he's turning in the 2007 GNC Yukon Denali assigned to him by the county.
Biane says he was cited during a trip to Chicago.
Cook County court records show Biane paid a $750 fine, was ordered to complete 12 hours of alcohol treatment and had his driving privileges suspended for six months because he refused a breath analysis test.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise says besides providing the SUV, records show the county paid an $826-a-year Mexico insurance policy for Biane's vehicle because the supervisor used it for trips to a home he owns there.
