Hundreds Of Officers Involved In SoCal Crime Sweep

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dozens of people have been arrested in a Southern California sweep that targeted drug trafficking by street gangs.

Authorities say 41 people were arrested Thursday in Los Angeles and Riverside counties -- most of them members of a half-dozen gangs.

Another 21 people are still being sought.

More than 800 federal and local law enforcement officers sought people accused in federal indictments of involvement in trafficking methamphetamines, cocaine and weapons.

Federal officials say most of those arrested face at least 10 years in prison if convicted.

The indictments stemmed from a three-year investigation into gang drug trafficking in the Los Angeles harbor area and the suburbs of Wilmington and La Puente.
