Doctor Says He Learned About Octuplets After Birth

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The fertility doctor for "Octomom" says his patient disappeared after he implanted her with 12 embryos and didn't learn about the octuplets until after their birth.

Dr. Michael Kamrava testified Thursday at a licensing hearing in Los Angeles that Nadya Suleman was adamant about using all 12 embryos during their last appointment in July 2009. Kamrava says he suggested only implanting four embryos but obeyed her wishes.

He says he didn't hear from Suleman again until she called him the day after she gave birth in January 2009.

Kamrava treated Suleman with in vitro fertilization for all her 14 children.

The California Medical Board alleges that Kamrava was negligent in the treatment of Suleman and two other patients, and is seeking to revoke or suspend his license.
