Power Restored To 2,700 After Utility Vault Fire In Koreatown

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities said crews have restored power to over 2,700 customers affected by a blackout after an underground electric vault fire tripped circuit breakers in a Koreatown transmission line.

The blaze, which was reported at 10:26 a.m. Sunday, occurred in the 300 block of South Alexandria Avenue, Los Angeles city fire spokesperson Erik Scott said.

DWP spokeswoman Mary AnnPierson said two crews were dispatched to the scene at 10:30 a.m. to make repairs. Power was restored to all but 20 customers by 5 p.m. Sunday.

Pierson also said the outage was caused by a feeder lockout, which was triggered by the fire in the underground vault.
