Police Search For 2 Robbers Who Assaulted 77-Year-Old Woman

COSTA MESA (CBS) — Police are on the lookout for two men who assaulted and robbed a 77-year-old woman in the parking lot of Macy's at South Coast Plaza.

Costa Mesa police say a woman was getting out of her car in the Macy's Home Store parking lot Thursday afternoon when two men accosted her and demanded her purse.

One man with a handgun struck the woman in the face, grabbed her purse and fled with another man on foot, Costa Mesa police Lt. Rob Sharpnack said.

The woman suffered a cut to her mouth and was taken to a hospital.

The two suspects were described as men in their 20s or 30s with dark complexions and medium builds. One man wore a dark jacket and baseball cap. The other wore a white T-shirt.

Anyone with more information about the robbery can call the Costa Mesa Police Department at (714) 754-5205 or (714) 754-5255.
