Man Shot And Killed On Bus In Inglewood

INGLEWOOD (CBS) — A man was fatally shot Wednesday by a fellow passenger on a Metro bus in Inglewood, according to authorities.

The shooting was believed to be gang-related.

Initial reports from the scene said someone from outside the bus shot the victim who was a passenger.

Later police took a suspect into custody and said both men were passengers.

A suspect was taken into custody at 2:52 p.m. on Manchester and Crenshaw boulevards, said Lt. Oscar Serrano of the Inglewood Police Department.

The suspect was from Los Angeles, and had boarded the bus, which normally travels along Manchester, in Los Angeles, Serrano said.

Detectives believed the shooting was gang related based on witness statements, Serrano said.

The names of both the suspect and victim have not been released.

More information on the case is expected to be released tonight or Thursday morning, Serrano said.
