Yoko Ono Reflects On John Lennon's 70th Birthday

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — It's hard to imagine...but John Lennon would be celebrating his 70th birthday tomorrow.

Forever young, the former Beatle was assassinated nearly 30 years ago, just a few months after turning 40.

CBS 2 anchor Paul Magers recently sat down with Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, to look back at the life of her legendary husband and father of her son Sean. Even Yoko cannot believe John would be 70. "Fans from all over the world contacted me," she tells Magers, "and said they were going to celebrate his 70th this way and that way. Oh! So, he's 70! I couldn't believe it!"

Magers caught up with Ono, now 77 herself, and discussed her music (she often performs with Sean) and their efforts in trying to make the world a more peaceful place...something that Lennon, of course, dreamed about.

In honor of the occasion, Ono helped launch the "Gimme Some Truth" campaign. His birthday will be marked with a variety of commemorative releases and events all around the globe.
