Simi Valley Coach Arrested For Allegedly Having Sex With Teen

SIMI VALLEY (AP) — Authorities say a part-time softball coach at Simi Valley High School was arrested after a 15-year-old girl alleged that they had a consensual sexual relationship two years ago.

Police say the girl told detectives earlier this week that she and 40-year-old Michael Burgmeier engaged in illegal sexual activity twice in September and October 2008.

Burgmeier was arrested Friday on suspicion of lewd and lascivious acts with a child. Police searched his home, seizing items they say are related to the case. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Burgmeier worked as a part-time girls' softball coach for about three years.
