LOS ANGELES (AP) — The second suicide in as many days has been reported at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.

The Sheriff’s Department says a 29-year-old inmate was pronounced dead Tuesday after he was found at around 5:20 a.m.

The inmate, whose name was not released, was sentenced to 21 years in prison after pleading guilty last year to assault with a deadly weapon. He also was found guilty of robberies and carjacking and was scheduled to be sentenced Friday for those crimes.

Authorities say a 40-year-old man was found dead in his cell Monday. The department says he left a note, but did not say why he had committed suicide. He had been arrested for parole violations.

Both cases are under investigation.

This is a trend that I hope increases in the future. There are already too many people on this planet, and we simply don’t need to continue to pay outrageous amounts to warehouse incorrigible criminals. Good riddens
