Suspected Car Thief Pins CHP Officer Against Fence

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A stolen vehicle suspect fled on foot after putting the car in reverse and pinning a California Highway Patrol officer and his motorcycle against a fence in East Los Angeles.

The officer wasn't seriously hurt in the Tuesday night incident.

CHP Sgt. Tariq Johnson says the motorcycle officer was on routine patrol when he saw the driver of the stolen car run a red light at about 7:30 p.m. After pulling over the car, investigators say the driver put the car in reverse and pinned the officer against a fence.

The Los Angeles Times says the man then got out of the car and ran away.
