Villa Park Man Thrown Into Pool By 2 Home Invasion Robbers

VILLA PARK( CBS) — Authorities say a home invasion robber threw a Villa Park homeowner into a backyard swimming pool before fleeing, leaving the non-swimmer struggling to get out.

The victim was attacked in his home in the 10600 block of Dorothy Circle about 8:30 a.m., Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said. The man, who recently had surgery, was also punched in the abdomen.

Two suspect ransacking the home woke the victim, who is not fluent in English. One ransacked a bedroom, while the second demanded to know where the valuables were kept, Amormino said. The victim, who is not fluent in English, was punched twice in the stomach when he did not immediately respond.

The victim was led out of the house and thrown into a swimming pool. He couldn't swim, but was able to dog paddle to the side and run to the neighbors for help.

One suspect was described as a 6-foot-tall Hispanic man in his 20s with a shaggy, black-brown goatee, wearing a black T-shirt and a white beanie. The second suspect was described as a stocky Latino, about 5 feet 8 inches and 250 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt and black beanie. They fled in a white, older-model, full-size pickup truck, possibly a Chevrolet.

The suspects are believed to be behind two recent burglaries in the area with a white pickup truck.
