ARLETA (CBS) — Police say shots were apparently fired after a person involved in an Arleta car accident fled the scene and into a Department of Motor Vehicles building.

Its unclear if anyone was hit, but police are checking area hospitals for possible gunshot victims.

Police went to 14400 Van Nuys Blvd. after a caller reported hearing shots, Los Angeles police Officer Gregory Baek said.

One person is believed to be in police custody.
