Octomom Holding Yard Sale To Stave Off Foreclosure

LA HABRA (CBS) — Nadya Suleman, aka "The Octomom," is holding a garage/yard sale Saturday -- hosted by a comedian friend -- in an effort to stave off foreclosure of her La Habra home.

Comic David Gonzalez, who befriended Suleman when she was pregnant with her eight, acknowledges that asking people to come to a fundraiser for some might be a tough sell.

"People can judge her however they want. She did this on her own, the mistake has been done," said Gonzalez, who goes by the stage name Tattoo. "But who cares about Octomom? It's about these kids."

Suleman already had six children when she got pregnant again with eight embryos.

Gonzalez calls Suleman "a great mother," and he hopes people will put their feelings for and about her aside to just focus on the brood of 14.

When Gonzalez heard Suleman was having trouble paying her mortgage, he came up with the idea of having a big yard sale.

He will reportedly emcee the event where Suleman is expected to sign autographs (including signing her nursing bra and panties), toys, and sonogram.

Some reports suggest Gonzalez might be the father, but it is a role he is reluctant to address or talk about.

CNN suggested he was the father and Gonzalez replies with "that's something I don't want to comment about. I just feel an obligation to help her [Suleman] out."

Gonzalez says the goal of the yard sale is to raise $10,000 since that is the amount to keep the bank at bay.

The comic says the yard sale will begin at 10 a.m. and last until "the babies go to sleep."

Suleman lives at 2051 Madonna Ave, La Habra, 90631. More information is available at http://ebay.com [search Octomom.]
