Paris Hilton Blocked From Entering Japan

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paris Hilton's entry into Japan has been delayed by immigration officials there.

It's not clear if they'll let her into the country. She pleaded guilty yesterday to a misdemeanor drug charge in Los Angeles.

Her spokeswoman says Hilton was stopped by immigration authorities upon her arrival.

She's supposed to appear at a news conference tomorrow in Tokyo to promote her fashion line. The event has apparently been canceled.

Japan's Kyodo news agency says the immigration office at Narita Airport questioned Hilton "for hours" to determine if she should be allowed to enter the country. It says they then asked Hilton to stay at a hotel in the airport so they could continue immigration procedures tomorrow.

Under Japanese law, immigration authorities are empowered to deny entry to those who have been convicted of drug-related offenses.
