Funeral Service To Be Held For OC Firefighter

SANTA ANA (CBS) — The Orange County Fire Authority is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Firefighter and paramedic Jim Owen, a 30-year veteran, was pronounced dead around 12 p.m. Thursday.

Officials say Owen went into full cardiac arrest after a training exercise and was immediately aided by fellow firefighters including his long-time paramedic partner.

According to the OCFA, Owen spent most of time based at Fire Station 4 in Irvine, working as both a paramedic and a haz-mat firefighter.

Owen is survived by his wife, Sharon, and three sons: Jim Jr., Daniel and Kevin.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. at Mariners Church (5001 Newport Coast Dr. in Irvine, Ca. 92603). A reception will immediately follow.
