Police Identify Man Killed In Car-To-Car Shooting

View Comments

WILMINGTON (CBS) — Officials have identified the male shooting victim in a car-to-car fatality near Los Angeles Harbor College.

Vincent Edwards, 24, was shot about 6 p.m. Thursday at Pacific Coast Highway and Figueroa Street. He was pronounced dead at Kaiser Hospital in Harbor City.

Police say Edwards was driving his 1994 white Chevy Caprice westbound on the PCH approaching Figueroa Street when an unknown man driving a white car pulled up alongside of him,” said Officer Cleon Joseph of the Los Angeles Police Department.

“The suspect in the white car pulled out a gun and shot Edwards numerous times and drove away from the location.”

The suspect remains at large.

Police urged anyone with information about the murder to call Harbor homicide Detective Brian Gasparian or Officer Fernando Rivas at (310) 726-7882 or 1-877-LAPD-24-7.

      • Henry Martinez

Yeah, we need to start going retroactive , and get all the kkk and hillbilly and redneck types outta here too… good thinking… too many guns , intolerance and extremism…

  • Jules Manson

This is indeed very sad. I did not know this player however being a Harbor College student this very much hits home with me. Based on this article Vincent Edwards was murdered by another person in a moving vehicle. Who knows if this was due to road rage or some other motives however such acts are simply cowardly. When diplomacy fails why can’t people resolve their differences like real men, mano y mano, instead of like cowards by resorting to firearms.

He wasnt a gang member i knew him personaly!! He was leaving a football game! on his way out few guys start tallking an got rough he was going home one of the guys that was in the little argument who is still unknown is who is felt to be the shooter1 smh at people that categorize a situation unknowing of it!! He was a 4.0 student, great friend , a football player, and had a humble heart!! We as a people need to do better!! Vinny will be missed!

  • Jules Manson

RMcC, I didn’t mean to imply at all in any way that Vincent was involved with gangs or did anything cowardly. I meant what I said for the shooter.

its really sad that such a great person has lost his life due to some BS… he was my lover/ friend he was a really great person all around. it really makes me sick to see that people categorize people because of the location that the shooting took place, he was a very smart person with a 4.0 grade average since ive known him for the past 13 years. if you dont know the story of what took place please leave your comments to yourself.

@ True lies it doesnt matter what neighborhood he was in he was a college student on his way home from football practice
