Truck Veers Off Interstate 15 Into Home, 2 Hurt

VICTORVILLE (AP) — A pickup truck veered off a Mojave Desert interstate and crashed into the bedroom of a home, seriously injuring a sleeping elderly woman and her son.

San Bernardino County fire spokeswoman Tracey Martinez says the pickup plunged over the side of Interstate 15 in Victorville at 1:44 a.m. Tuesday and crashed through chain and wooden fences before hitting a parked car and stopping in a bedroom of the two-story home. The house is 100 feet from the highway.

A woman in her 70s and her son, who is in his 50s, were sleeping inside the bedroom and they were seriously hurt. They are hospitalized.

The pickup driver had minor injuries.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
