Driver Kills Man Asleep Off 101 Freeway

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say a driver veered off the road
and killed a man who had been asleep in the bushes next to an off-ramp of a Los Angeles freeway.

The California Highway Patrol said in a news release that 37-year-old Adan Rodriguez was declared dead at the scene Saturday on the Vermont Avenue off-ramp of U.S. 101 in the Koreatown area.

The CHP says 28-year-old Anesha Hicks of San Leandro was driving the Mitsubishi Galant that also hit two road signs and a tree and caught fire.

The release says Hicks was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
