LOS ANGELES (CBS) — An unprecedented global initiative, Fashion’s Night Out is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York that was created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy, and put the fun back in shopping. To celebrate Fashion’s Night Out, businesses in San Fernando Valley, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood plan to extend their hours and host events in celebration of fashion.
Rodeo Drive will anchor a Beverly Hills’ extravaganza featuring 80 in-store events on Rodeo Drive, Wilshire Blvd., Beverly and Canon Drives, and Brighton Way. The centerpiece of the celebration will be a four-story Ferris Wheel on the 200 block of Rodeo Drive with complimentary rides for two when guests show their receipt of purchases from participating stores — while rides last. The night will also feature a variety of events including celebrity appearances, DJs, art installations, new product introductions, charitable shopping, anniversary events, complimentary manicures, gifts with purchase, and a variety of carnival-themed fashion events. In addition, seven of L.A.’s hottest gourmet food trucks will line the 300 and 400 blocks of Rodeo Drive. The night will also include a life-size Fashion Rulesä trivia game, hosted by Pandoraä, played on Rodeo Drive adjacent to the Ferris Wheel. Westfield Topanga celebrates Fashion’s Night Out 2010 as the official San Fernando Valley location of the biggest fashion celebration in history. The shopping center and over 50 of its major retailers are planning an evening of luxurious events, giveaways, and of course, incredible shopping deals. Some of the events will include a runway show and appearance by designer Sue Wong at Neiman Marcus, a 24-7 shoe giveaway at Jimmy Choo and a live model art show and 15% discounts off $150 purchases at Betsey Johnson. The complete list of retailer events is at www.westfield.com/topanga.
Businesses all over West Hollywood, including many in The Avenues and several on the Sunset Strip, will participate by extending hours and hosting events. Attendees can expect celebrity appearances and designer showcases along with an abundance of food, wine and fashion. Some of the special events will include a celebrity art show hosted by 3.1 Phillip Lim and Refinery 29, a raffle for an Alberta Ferretti clutch, a live vogueing show at Alpha, and free facials or upper body chocolate sun treatments at Chocolate Sun.
