Former Mayor Of Temple City Gets 16 Months For Bribery

TEMPLE CITY (AP) — The former mayor of a Los Angeles suburb has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for demanding money from a developer who was seeking city support for a mall project.

Judy Wong, who resigned from the Temple City council in March, was also ordered Friday to pay $16,700 in restitution to developer Randy Wang and more than $16,000 in court fines.

The 54-year-old Wong and two others were indicted in June 2009. Wong pleaded no contest to 10 counts of bribery, perjury and solicitation to commit bribery.

Prosecutors say Wong demanded and received more than $13,000 from the developer in 2007 and 2008.

Temple City is about 10 miles east of Los Angeles.
