Missing Venice Woman Sought By Family, Friends

VENICE (CBS 2) — Police asked the public to be on the lookout Wednesday for a despondent woman in Venice who was last seen in July.

Relatives of the woman say she moved out of her apartment when a beloved pet died and that she moved everything into her car.

Nancy Barrett, 52, was last seen near her former building in the 2600 block of Grand Canal Court, near Pacific Avenue and Venice Boulevard, police said.

Barrett first moved from her apartment to her car which was parked in front of her former residence. She then abandoned her car and possessions and left the area and has not been seen since.

Barrett is 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs 150 pounds. She may be wearing green cargo pants and a tan sweater and living in the Venice Beach or Santa Monica areas.

Anyone with information on Barrett's whereabouts was asked to contact the LAPD's Missing Persons Unit at (213) 996-1800.
