Craigslist Shuts Down Adult Services Section

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Craigslist has shut down its adult services section after pressure from attorneys general around the country.

On Saturday, Craigslist replaced the icon for "adult services" with a black bar that reads "censored."

Critics, like Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, claimed the section was an online marketplace for prostitution.

"We persuaded Craigslist to take action, eliminating prostitution ads and fortunately now, its done the right thing voluntarily by shutting down the adult services section," Blumenthal said.

It is not clear if the change is permanent and it appears to only affect Craigslist ads in the United States.
