Gunman Killed In Confrontation With Ontario Police
ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) — Ontario police have killed a man they say tried to ram a police vehicle and pointed an assault pistol at officers.
Jason Marcellus Martin of Desert Hot Springs died at a hospital. No officers were hurt.
Sgt. David McBride says a report of a man with a gun sent officers to an apartment Wednesday morning. They surrounded the building and called up a SWAT team armored assault vehicle.
McBride says a car tried to drive away but was stopped by the assault vehicle and shoved into a garage.
McBride says the driver was shot by two officers when he pointed a Tec-9 machine pistol at them and tried to ram the assault vehicle.
Police say Martin was a gang member with a history of arrests. He recently was paroled after serving time for domestic violence.
