SAN FERNANDO, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California man has been sentenced to death for sexually assaulting and beating to death a 5-year-old girl.

Twenty-nine-year-old Antonio Rodriguez was sentenced Thursday in a San Fernando courtroom for the 2004 attack on his girlfriend’s daughter in Castaic. He was convicted in July of murder, torture and other charges.

Prosecutors say Rodriguez brutalized Desarie Saravia and her 6-year-old brother, Brian, for months before he molested and beat the girl in a park restroom. He’d taken the children to the park while their mother cleaned a house nearby.

In sentencing Rodriguez, Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Coen said Rodriguez had extinguished the light of an angel.

The girl’s mother, 32-year-old Debby Saravia, is awaiting trial on murder and other charges.

You see, in California, death means nothing. It means 3 solid warm meals, it means clean clothes, it means A/C, heating, clean clothing. FREE MEDICAL INSURANCE and DENTAL! It means this scumbag is getting all of these privileges for FREE from all of us tax paying citizens. That is what the value of this 5 year old girl is worth to California. This trash should be executed tomorrow! In public, on TV. Instead we reward him. Welcome to California, the state that protects child rapist and murderer’s.

Haven’t you figured out that criminals have all the rights? Victiims have no standing in our wonderful justice system.

What they need to do is put scum like this in with general population while he awaits his (never) execution date. The other, um, residents of the facility will make sure that they take care of business in a way the State refuses to do…

Jip, I agree with you. With today’s forensic advances it’s not likely that the judicial system has convicted the wrong man, so why wait to execute the scum? He did it and he should die! Along with that little girl’s mother! Sick people! Now we gotta support these sickos with our hard-earned dollars.
