RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA (CBS) — An Orange County man whose wife vanished nearly six months ago has been charged with killing her, while investigators are searching a mountain campground for her body.
Prosecutors say 61-year-old Richard Forsberg was charged Tuesday with murder. He could face life in prison and remains jailed pending arraignment on Wednesday.
The district attorney’s office claims that Forsberg got into an argument with his wife of 39 years at their Rancho Santa Margarita home in February, bludgeoned her with a statue then hid her body at Lake Piru campground in Ventura County. Authorities are searching the campground.
Friends reported Marcia Forsberg’s disappearance in February. Her husband vanished last week but was located Monday at a hospital after apparently attempting suicide.
