Human Trafficking Operation Busted In Baldwin Park

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. (CBS) — Authorities say they have busted a major human trafficking operation in Baldwin Park.

Police say two Guatemalan men are in federal custody after nearly 50 suspected illegal immigrants were found inside a home there.

Edwin Leon Francisco, 18, and Ismael Carrillo Castaneda, 30, both of Guatemala, were taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.

Men, women and one child were being held inside the property against their will for ransom money, CBS 2's Suraya Fadel reported at the scene.

The victims had been smuggled into the United States illegally from Mexico and Central America.

Officials arrived at the home in the 5000 block of La Rica Avenue after they received a call from a man who was being held against will.
