Program Helps Women Battling Cancer Feel Beautiful

LOS ANGELES - It has been a while since Kim Le has spent time taking care of herself and feeling beautiful.

Kim's world was turned upside down 10 years ago when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through periods of being cancer-free but found out that this time… the cancer had spread all over her body.

"Look Good… Feel Better" is a public service program that offers female patients battling cancer free make-up and classes taught by cosmetologists who volunteer their time. The classes were held at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center.

The program also couldn't happen without the Personal Care Products Council and the Professional Beauty Association.

Although the women take home hundreds of dollars in make-up, they also meet other battling cancer patients and make new friends in the process. Patients tell CBS 2/KCAL 9's Lisa Sigell that you can't put a price on an experience like this.

It is a time to be together, to celebrate being a woman and to remember… with a little encouragement, it's possible to look good and feel better.

The "Look Good… Feel Better" program also offers classes for teens and men. If you or a loved one is battling cancer and could benefit from this program, log onto their Web site.
